Bill Clinton Backpedals on Monica Lewinsky Remarks

Bill Clinton’s novel features a ruggedly handsome president who must hunt down a terrorist while facing impeachment

Clinton also said that people's current criticism of his behavior during the Lewinsky scandal was in part due to their frustration over the lack of consequences for President Donald Trump as he faces allegations of sexual misconduct.

Clinton commented on the controversial interview during a book tour event Monday night, claiming that he "got hot under the collar because of the way the questions were asked". "I left the White House $16 million in debt", he added. "Here is what I want to say, it wasn't my finest hour".

Colbert asked Clinton, in a preview of the episode released by CBS. "I mean, you have to really ignore what the context was. If the facts were the same today, I wouldn't".

"I could not believe the words that were coming out of his mouth", she said.

"A lot of the facts have been conveniently omitted to make the story work, I think partly because they're frustrated that they got all these serious allegations against the current occupant of the Oval Office and his voters don't seem to care", Clinton told NBC, pointing to a series of sexual misconduct allegations against President Donald Trump, who has denied them.

The former president sparked controversy over the weekend when he pushed back during an interview with NBC News after being asked about the Lewinsky scandal.

"Beyond that, I think it would be good if we could go on with the discussion", Clinton added. But you know, she's living in a different context. "He thinks he's still somehow a victim", Paul said.

Lewinsky has not directly responded to the recent hubbub over Clinton's answers, but she did tweet on Monday that she was "grateful to the myriad people who have helped me evolve + gain perspective in the past 20 years".

'To tell you the truth, you can't really have an appropriate consensual relationship with a 20-year-old intern in your office.

"When I saw the interview, I thought that, because they had to distill it, it looked like I was saying I didn't apologize and I had no intention to. I still have some questions about some of the decisions that have been made".
