Trump delivers warning on trade as he leaves G-7 summit

Trump believes 'progress made' in G7 trade talks

"PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, "US Tariffs were kind of insulting" and he "will not be pushed around" Very dishonest & weak".

Trump, in a Twitter tirade on Thursday, pointed fingers at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French president Emmanuel Macron, stating that "they are charging the USA massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers".

The President warned Canada and Europe to back off their threats to hit back with retaliatory trade measures on July 1 if the USA does not lift the steel and aluminum levies.

Trump had bilateral meetings on Friday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Mr. Trump addressed the subject of global trade during an impromptu news conference at the summit on Saturday, saying that he does not want to see other countries take advantage of the USA over trade.

Trump cited progress on reaching an agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico, saying the final outcome would lead either to an improved trade deal or separate pacts with the two United States neighbours. Despite his "bromance" with Trump, he too let the US leader know he's not pleased with the new tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Canada hosts this year's G7 in La Malbaie, Quebec.

He said the country won't hesitate to impose its own retaliatory tariffs.

It is an annual summit bringing together Canada, the USA, the UK, France, Italy, Japan and Germany, which represent more than 60% of global net worth between them.

Trump appeared to get one concession when the G7 committed "to modernize the WTO to make it more fair as soon as possible".

Trump is issuing a stern warning to foreign countries not to retaliate against USA tariffs on the imports of steel and aluminum.

Trump refuses to endorse G7 statement after labeling Trudeau 'weak, dishonest'
According to CNN, Trudeau asked Trump how he justified imposing tariffs as a national security issue during a May 25 phone call. Just hours ago, President Donald Trump was tweeting about the "great meetings and relationships with the six Country Leaders".

The team he came up against is the sort that can turn JaVale McGee and Nick Young into champions. "He's won three championships". James scored 51 points in that game, and wasn't able to recapture his form in the subsequent three contests.

Trudeau also said that Canada will go ahead with retaliatory tariffs from July 1, according to CNN.

Mr Trump says tariffs are needed to reverse America's trade deficit.

US President Donald Trump has retracted his endorsement of the joint communique issued at the end of the G7 summit, accusing Canada of "dishonesty".

"The U.S. has been taken advantage of for decades and decades, and we can't do that anymore", Trump said.

Still, the USA and European Union will establish a dialog on trade within the next two weeks, signaling a modest step forward for the bitterly divided allies of the G7.

Trump said that would be a bad idea.

Following his announcement that the USA would be pulling its endorsement of the joint statement, Trump took another jab at Trudeau in a second tweet.

"I think the G8 would be better". The noise of Mr Trump's helicopter landing was so loud they had to stop talking for a while, in a scene one official compared to the opening from the USA television series M.A.S.H.

Trudeau had announced just hours earlier that all G7 countries signed the joint communique, and all of the leaders had chose to "roll up our sleeves" and agree upon "consensus language".

"President Trump and I had a brief word here at the summit about how he is looking forward to his visit to the United Kingdom and I look forward to welcoming him to the United Kingdom".

"Obama can say all he wants", Trump added, "but he allowed Russian Federation to take Crimea".
