Interim CBS Chief Omits Les Moonves Sexual Misconduct Allegations in Company Email

CBS CEO Leslie Moonves hit with six additional claims of sexual harassment and assault

Only one thing is definite: Moonves and CBS will contribute $20 million "to one or more organizations that support the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace".

But Sunday evening's announcement specified that any severance "will depend upon the results" of the ongoing internal investigations into his behavior. "It really broke my heart and I don't care whether it was yesterday, 20 or 30 years ago, but somebody that breaks somebody's life like that has to be accountable", she said.

Moonves is expected to resign Monday, Reuters reported. Kelly Kahl, the had of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, the head of CBS's studio, have worked with Moonves since before he joined the company.

In a Sunday statement, Moonves said on Sunday that the claims against him are "untrue allegations from decades ago", and are "not consistent with who I am".

According to CBS, Moonves will not receive any severance benefits at this time.

On Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, six women accused the network's chairman of sexual harassment and sexual assault in journalist Ronan Farrow's latest piece for The New Yorker.

His interim replacement will be chief operating officer Joseph Ianniello while the board searches for a permanent successor.

On Sunday Moonves stepped down from the company he has led for 15 years, after the New Yorker published an article detailing new sexual harassment allegations against him. "This is very serious and the appropriate actions need to take place".

CBS has negotiated an estimated US$100 million settlement with Moonves, sources said.

Magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocks Fiji in early hours
Friday's tremor comes less than three weeks after an 8.2-magnitude natural disaster struck far below the seabed near Fiji. The quake hit 94 km south of the city of Ambato at a depth of 112 km, the USGS said.

"A man accused of rigorously reported allegations of harassment should not be rewarded with a golden parachute", said Time's Up, the group that sprung from last year's outpouring of workplace harassment claims.

Allred said that while it was also too late to file a civil lawsuit against Moonves, his "victims" deserved "justice" of some kind.

One of Mr Moonves' accusers, Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb, also reported her accusations to Los Angeles police previous year, but they were not pursued because the statute of limitations had expired.

One of the women is Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb, now 82, then in her early 50s. Accusations by six other women, which appeared in the same magazine in July, had sparked an investigation by CBS.

"All women's stories, and these women's stories, matter", Gilbert said.

Farrow had a different explanation.

"I think this is a blessing from God to be unburdened from secrets and unchained from lies and now is the time for everyone to look inside themselves and become better people and treat people the way they should be treated", she said. The organizations have been "designated by Mr Moonves in consultation with the company".

Earlier this year, he uncovered allegations of physical assault that forced NY state prosecutor Eric Schneiderman to resign. It's very embarrassing and upsetting to have to talk about her husband, but we do. Now it seems he might lose his severance package along with his job.

CBS also announced a deal to end litigation against controlling shareholder Shari Redstone and National Amusements Inc for control of the broadcaster and media company. As a result of Farrow's article, more women are coming out of the woodwork to share their experiences of harassment, intimidation, and assault at the hands of the executive. "They felt this was a board that has let a powerful man who makes a lot of money for this company, in the words of one person, 'get away with it'".
