Saudi Arabia to let Turkey search consulate over missing journalist

Turkey believes journalist killed in Saudi consulate

Turkey's foreign ministry said Tuesday that authorities will search the Saudi consulate in Istanbul as part of an investigation into the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi last week.

"The Saudi authorities have notified that they are open to cooperation in this regard and that the examination can be conducted in their consular buildings in Istanbul", a Turkish foreign ministry spokesperson said Tuesday, without elaborating as to when the search would happen.

"When President Trump became president, we've changed our armament strategy again for the next 10 years to put more than 60% with the United States of America", he added.

Crown Prince Mohammed's brother and the Saudi ambassador to the US, Khaled, has insisted all the reports about his disappearance or death "are completely false and baseless".

"I have raised Jamal's disappearance personally with the Saudi ambassador, and while we await more information, know we will respond accordingly to any state that targets journalists overseas", he wrote.

According to his fiancee Cengiz, Khashoggi had visited the consulate to receive an official document for his marriage.

Nor has Turkey fully explained why officials fear Khashoggi has been killed.

Turkish police were looking into two private aircraft which landed at Istanbul's Ataturk airport on Tuesday at different times carrying 15 people of interest in the case, as well as the possibility that Khashoggi was kidnapped and taken aboard one of the planes, local media reported.

"His is a voice of reasoned criticism and wise comment that the Saudi crown prince should listen to", wrote Law, who said he had known Khashoggi for 16 years. He had been living since past year in the United States, in a self-imposed exile, in part due to the rise of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the son of King Salman. "We are not in a position to confirm these reports, but we are following them closely", the official said.

Some Say Riyad Mahrez's Penalty Is Still In The Air Right Now
Aguero is City's usual penalty-taker, but he had been substituted, leading to an on-field discussion as to who would take it. While he can be quite efficient from free kicks, it seems like the next time, somebody else should take the penalty kicks.

Kislakci also alleged, based on conversations with officials he did not name, that Khashoggi was made to "faint", then was dismembered. Erdogan has said he would await the results of an investigation.

Though wary of each other, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have traditionally tried to avoid public spats.

In the interview published Friday, October 5, the Saudi crown prince also said he understood that Khashoggi had entered the consulate "and he got out after a few minutes or one hour". She accused Saudi Arabia of "state terrorism" and called on the global community to take action against the kingdom.

Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi ambassador to the US, sought to convey sympathy with carefully moderate criticism in a note to friends in English the embassy shared with reporters.

The board said Saudi Arabia has to identify the 15 officials who were at the consulate and exactly what happened inside.

Saudi officials and consulate workers denied murder allegations and claimed that Khashoggi left the consulate, but failed to provide any evidence of his exit from the facility.

Two senior administration officials said the administration has no verifiable information to confirm the Turkish government claims that Khashoggi was killed but that the U.S. is seeking answers about his whereabouts - and talking to senior levels of Saudi government.

It would also put Britain directly at odds with the crown prince, who is a key United Kingdom ally.
