Saudi sisters' bound bodies wash ashore in mystery

Police sketches of the two sisters Tala Farea 16 left and Rotana Farea 22

It was later discovered she was with her older sister in NY and the search called off.

Tala and Rotana moved to the USA from Saudi Arabia with their mother in 2015, settling in Fairfax, a suburb of Washington D.C., police said.

The sisters' mother had also told investigators that she hadn't seen Rotana and Tala since December 2017, when she reported them missing to local authorities, sources said.

In August they were reported missing. "Meet them? See them?"

At a press conference on Wednesday, the city's chief of detectives said there are some "gaps" in the sisters' history, which investigators are trying to resolve.

Tala was last seen Aug, 24, according to a posting on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"We are looking at all clues in their past life", he said.

Pittsburgh synagogue shooter Robert Bowers hit with 29 federal charges
He said he hoped Mr Trump wouldn't visit, noting that the president has embraced the politically fraught label of "nationalist". Other locals said they will survive this incident and be stronger because of it, but will never be the same.

The Virginia-based mother said the Saudi embassy in Washington called her on October 23 alerting her that the family's residence in America was in jeopardy because of the asylum applications, reported the New York Post.

Rotana was enrolled at George Mason University, but left in the spring.

But there's still few public details about either sister's past. The sisters' bodies were taped together and facing each other, but had no obvious signs of trauma, police said.

Almost a week after two Fairfax County sisters were found dead along a riverbank in New York City, mystery still surrounds their deaths.

Police released a sketch of the two women found laying on rocks near the Hudson River off of Riverside Park.

Saudi Arabia's consulate-general in NY has appointed an attorney "to follow the case closely". The lack of obvious trauma appeared to rule out a theory they may have jumped into the river from the George Washington Bridge. Law&Crime repeatedly reached out to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C. for comment or clarification on the mother's allegation but no response was forthcoming at the time of publication.

Anyone with information about what happened is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
