Women's March draws crowds in Washington, St. Paul

For the past two years the Women's March has been a national event featuring hundreds of thousands of women around the count

WASHINGTON-Women will march in hundreds of USA cities and overseas on Saturday to mark the second anniversary of demonstrations that drew millions of protesters to the streets the day after Republican President Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2017. We've walked blocks and blocks.

"Anti-Semitism is something we as an organization take very seriously", Parke said.

"Two years ago, the most inspiring moment of my political life happened, the women's movement was reborn", Gillibrand said. "It doesn't matter the time, the date, how cold it is - things are going to happen, (and) we need to be there to make it happen". Internal divisions in Seattle resulted in three separate marches taking place, but police said only 4,000 to 5,000 people turned out, compared to an estimated 100,000 in 2017, the Seattle Times said.

The College Democrats at IU will not attend Saturday's Women's March in Indianapolis in what they said is a break in the movement's mission.

Thousands of people participate in the Third Annual Women's March at Freedom Plaza in Washington, U.S., January 19, 2019.

The original Women's March in 2017 drew hundreds of thousands of protesters; the exact size of the turnout is still subject to politically charged debate, but it's generally regarded as the largest Washington protest since the Vietnam era.

Many cited Mr Trump's presidency among the reasons they chose to run for office.

Just blocks away, the president spoke to reporters outside the White House before traveling briefly to Dover, Delaware for a ceremony to receive the remains of four Americans killed in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group in Syria.

Heck, even new Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has gone on record stating he'd take Murray first overall if he could. Not only is he good enough to play two sports in college , he's good enough to succeed in two sports at the highest level.

Women's March organizers blamed the low turnout estimate on location changes made by the National Parks Service. The original plan was to gather on the National Mall.

Posters dotting the scene defended women's rights and mocked the president, including one with an image of Trump as an infant, declaring him "the only baby that belongs in a cage". Another stated, "MOOD: Still pretty mad about Kavanaugh".

This year's march has also been roiled by an intense ideological debate.

Leaders of the movement were recently accused of anti-Semitism and some prominent people and organizations have stepped away from the event.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz cited the refusal of Women's March national co-chair Tamika D. Mallory to condemn Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, described by the Anti-Defamation League as "America's leading anti-Semite".

Shook, a retired lawyer from Hawaii, has been credited with sparking the movement by creating a Facebook event that went viral and snowballed into the massive protest on January 21, 2017.

The four organisers denied the allegations, but Sarsour said in a statement that the movement "should have been faster and clearer in helping people understand our values and our commitment to fighting anti-Semitism".

Another Democrat, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of NY, is scheduled to speak Saturday at the Women's March Iowa in Des Moines, after appearing at the 2017 and 2018 events in Washington, D.C.
